Event Designer

Searching for a high energy & creative individual to add to our experienced Event Team

Job Title:Event Designer

Position Type: Full-time
Immediate Supervisor: Event Manager

Job Summary:To provide a totally unique setting for all events.To include all aspects of planning, budgeting, and executing.Will create custom floral arrangements and centerpieces for all events, that will reflect the personalities and budgets of our clients.

Role & Responsibilities (include, but not limited to):

  • Schedule meetings and communicate with clients to discuss all aspects of décor
  • Create Inspiration Boards for all events, to include photos & captions
  • Plan and execute Décor Presentations for all events that qualify and be able to present/sell items to client
  • Prepare Decor Proposals for all events, to include pricing all items such as supplies, flowers, labor, etc.
  • Determine resources (time, budget, equipment etc.) required to complete the design
  • Order items as needed in a timely manner (i.e. linens, floral, etc.)
  • Keep files updated & organized (including quotes, communications, financial records, etc.)
  • Keeping all décor inventory updated
  • Create Décor Profit/Loss sheets for Event Manager after each event (weekly)
  • Report to Event Manager daily with updates on event progress, ordering, and client communication
  • Organization is so important!
  • Keep on schedule with timeline for each event as determined by Event Manager
  • Work with all-fresh natural flowers, including processing floral upon arrival & maintaining as needed
  • Will be responsible for keeping floral fresh for up to 3 days, if required
  • Review event schedule with Event Manager & Coordinator Assistant to coordinate staff and vehicles
  • Communicate with all other staff that will be affected by the activities
  • Monitor and receive approval from Event Manager on all budgeted expenditures
  • Design and create floral arrangements, centerpieces, bridal bouquets, flower crowns, gazebo arrangements, and much more!
  • Create or source custom pieces as required by each event (i.e. signage, backdrops, custom décor, etc.)
  • Supervise an Event Décor Assistant on days when additional help is required
  • Manage & organize linen inventory (i.e. delivery times, return times, etc.)
  • Use forms and records to document design activities
  • Ensure that the design deliverables are on time, within budget and are at the required level of quality
  • Create weekly To Do lists for staff member to assist with décor set up
  • Designer is responsible for scheduling this person and factoring cost into client’s proposal

Qualifications & Education Requirements: The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma and hands-on creative flair.Previous floral experience required.Customer Service is experience is an absolute must.Knowledge of design elements and principles such as visual balance, proportion, color, texture, functionality etc.Knowledge of event design tools such as pipe and drape systems, lighting, floral design, etc.

Physical Requirements: Must be able to stand for long periods of time (10-16 hours) and be able to lift heavy items (up to 25 lbs.) such as furniture and décor.Required to work weekends (mostly Saturdays), and some evenings.

Skill-set:The perfect Designer will have an equal balance of creativity and organization.The ability to create and execute unique designs is required.The Designer must be able to create a detailed work plan, which identifies and sequences activities needed to successfully complete design prior to event date.

Attire: Professional, conservative, but trendy and cute.No bra straps or cleavage showing.No strapless or short dresses.Closed toe shoes and all-black attire required on event days.

Banquet Servers for Events

Performing food and drink serving duties at special events (i.e. weddings, quinceaneras, dinners, brunches, etc.). Job includes interacting with guests in a positive, friendly and efficient manner.

Essential duties and responsibilities

  • Set up for events by arranging table placement, place settings, polishing silverware & glassware
  • Attend BEO meetings before start of event to learn event details, including venue & guest expectations
  • Carrying plates of food on trays and serving guests
  • Serve beverages & food in the appropriate order to ensure consistency throughout the event
  • Keep glasses filled; remove each round of plates and replenish utensils as needed
  • Perform cleaning tasks and breakdown of service
  • Maintain high standards of safety and cleanliness
  • Adhere to grooming and appearance standards
  • Maintain & exceed company’s level of customer service & positive attitude
  • Greet & welcome guests; respond to their requests in a courteous and friendly manner
  • After the event, reset event space in accordance with the venue’s specifications to ensure the readiness of the room for other functions
  • Follow attendance rules & always go to work on a regular basis
  • Perform other related functions that may be assigned

Qualification requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Previous waitress, waiter or banquet server experience required
  • Bilingual (English & Spanish) preferred
  • Food Handlers License & TABC required
  • Excellent oral communication and listening skills
  • Ability to follow directions
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • A banquet server MUST provide their own uniform which consists of a black button down shirt, black pants & belt, black socks and black non-slip shoes.
    • No visible tattoos or jewelry

Physical demands and abilities

  • Ability to speak and hear
  • Close and distance vision
  • Frequently walking with some standing at times, possibly extended distances; ability to bend and climb stairs when necessary
  • Frequently lift/carry up to 25 lbs. & occasionally lift/carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Team work required: must be able to work with other members of the team and help with job duties as needed
  • Must have basic knowledge of service standards, guest relations, food & beverage preparations as well as etiquette
