Banquet Captain for Events

We are looking for a Banquet Captain that demonstrates strong leadership and wants to be part of a fast-paced team environment! Our Banquet Captains oversee a variety of events including weddings, handle and delegate set‐up and breakdown of rooms, and take care of the customer in a timely and courteous manner. Job includes interacting with guests in a positive, friendly and efficient manner.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Maintains an understanding of banquet and bar methods of service and uses available resources to stay knowledgeable about catering packages, bar packages, and all policies.
  • Contributes to the success of events by sitting I on weekly BEO meetings and preparing for events with precision while maintaining a strong sense of work ethic.
  • Under general supervision, coordinates and supervises events based on client specifications and Banquet Event Order.
  • Supervises and directs banquet staff during all phases of an event.
  • Effectively and regularly communicates expectations and service goals to staff.
  • Coordinates food service between kitchen and banquet service staff.
  • Inspects all areas of the venue before guest arrival for proper appearance.
  • Assists with inventory of all banquet service ware, equipment and supplies to meet required needs.
  • Enforce venue rules, regulations and policies.
  • Prepare and review table diagrams, guest tables and set-up needs for special functions.
  • Participate in or conduct pre-function meeting with servers to ensure smooth, efficient service; assigns server stations and coordinates the timing of courses if needed.
  • Ensures that all banquet staff are well groomed and in proper uniform.
  • Assists with training, and supervising banquet staff.
  • Assures the neatness, cleanliness and safety of all banquet areas.
  • Interacts with banquet host or hostess to assure all needs are being met.
  • Assures that state and local laws and the club's policies and procedures for serving alcoholic beverages are followed
  • Notifies management of member and guest complaints.
  • Oversees breakdown of event, including clean-up activities and securing the facilities.
  • Ensures that all appropriate charges are billed correctly to each event and forwarded to the Events Manager.
  • Is expected to perform any related duty as requested by manager.

Qualification requirements

  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED)
  • At least 1 year of banquet or server experience required.
  • At least 1 year of supervisory experience preferred.
  • Ability to speak, read, and write English & Spanish
  • TABC and Food Handlers certified
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • A banquet server MUST provide their own uniform which consists of a collared black button down shirt, black pants & belt, black socks and black non-slip shoes.
    • No visible tattoos or jewelry

Physical demands and abilities

  • Required to stand for long periods and walk, climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, stretch, reach and twist.
  • Must be able to push, pull, and lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Team work required: must be able to work with other members of the team and help with job duties as needed
  • Must have basic knowledge of service standards, guest relations, food & beverage preparations as well as etiquette

Banquet Servers for Events

Performing food and drink serving duties at special events (i.e. weddings, quinceaneras, dinners, brunches, etc.). Job includes interacting with guests in a positive, friendly and efficient manner.

Essential duties and responsibilities

  • Set up for events by arranging table placement, place settings, polishing silverware & glassware
  • Attend BEO meetings before start of event to learn event details, including venue & guest expectations
  • Carrying plates of food on trays and serving guests
  • Serve beverages & food in the appropriate order to ensure consistency throughout the event
  • Keep glasses filled; remove each round of plates and replenish utensils as needed
  • Perform cleaning tasks and breakdown of service
  • Maintain high standards of safety and cleanliness
  • Adhere to grooming and appearance standards
  • Maintain & exceed company’s level of customer service & positive attitude
  • Greet & welcome guests; respond to their requests in a courteous and friendly manner
  • After the event, reset event space in accordance with the venue’s specifications to ensure the readiness of the room for other functions
  • Follow attendance rules & always go to work on a regular basis
  • Perform other related functions that may be assigned

Qualification requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Previous waitress, waiter or banquet server experience required
  • Bilingual (English & Spanish) preferred
  • Food Handlers License & TABC required
  • Excellent oral communication and listening skills
  • Ability to follow directions
  • Excellent customer service skills
